Living with emetophobia can feel so very lonely that often it is nice to know that you are not the only one with a debilitating phobia. This past Friday, July 13th, was Friday the 13th. Apparently the fear of the “day when the 13th of the month takes place on a Friday” is so common that a title has officially been given to this particular phobia: friggatriskaidekaphobia. According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina, this phobia affects over 17 million Americans.
