Emetophobia and the Struggle of Motherhood

Emetophobia, the fear of vomiting or of vomit, is a mental health disorder about which there is very little public awareness.

People who have emetophobia often feel isolated, disheartened by the lack of support they have in their struggle. It can be difficult to confide in others about the condition because most people don’t even know it exists. It isn’t easy to convey the all-encompassing nature of emetophobia, either.

A woman in the UK who suffered with emetophobia since age seven tried to conceal her condition and go on with her life as normal. Unfortunately, she found the challenge of motherhood almost too much to bear.
