When you’re stressed out, worried and unhappy, it tends to show. One possible explanation for this is that anxiety can speed up the physical aging process. Scientists at Brigham and Women’s Hospital examined the effects of high levels of anxiety on a group of women with a phobia. They found that the stress had an effect on the women on a cellular level. The new findings suggest that the anxiety a phobic person experiences can wear away at the protective material around the chromosome.
